2 More Dutchess Rail Trail Bridges Installed
Titusville Road and Route 376 crossings complete

Poughkeepsie... Two more Dutchess Rail Trail connections were completed today as bridges were successfully installed over Titusville Road  in the Town of LaGrange and over Route 376 in the Town of East Fishkill.    These bridges were part of three critical connections for Phase III of the Dutchess Rail Trail.    The first bridge was installed on Tuesday over Maloney Road in the Town of Wappinger.

Residents and visitors are reminded that Phase III  of the Dutchess Rail Trail  is still under construction and is not yet open to the public.

A photo gallery of the bridge installation over Titusville Road can be viewed on the County’s website at:

Photos of the Route 376 connection in East Fishkill can be seen on the Dutchess County Government Facebook page at:!/pages/Dutchess-County-Government/73646813346

Both the Titusville Road span and the Route 376 span are approximately 120 feet in length, consisting of two connected steel trusses.   Weathering steel give the rail trail bridges a natural patina.  As construction of Phase III of the Dutchess Rail Trail continues, this entire section of trail will receive a final top coat of asphalt including the three new bridges.

The Dutchess Rail Trail is a 12 mile multi-use linear county park which will run through the middle of the County along the former Maybrook Rail corridor and including the towns of Poughkeepsie, LaGrange, Wappinger and East Fishkill.

Currently two phases of the popular Dutchess Rail Trail are completed and open for public use.  Phase I of the Dutchess Rail Trail, which opened in the fall of 2007, is located in East Fishkill and extends 1.7 miles between Route 376 (near the Whortekill Rod & Gun Club) and Lake Walton Road.      Phase II opened in 2009 and is a 2.4 mile section from Morgan Lake to Overocker Road in Poughkeepsie.
