Submitting an Application for an Exam or Recruitment
The following steps will guide you through the processes of submitting an application for an
announced exam or recruitment. The following steps are presented at the most basic level.
For specific, detailed instructions for completing the application, refer to the instructions presented
on the first two pages of the online application.
The following instructions assume that you have succesfully logged into the system using your Dutchess County
account and are starting at the main menu.
Submitting an application for an exam or recruitment consists of three overall steps:
- Complete the application wizard
- Complete the affirmative action questionnaire
- Submit payment for the application (exam applications only).
After step one is complete, the application is saved. Therefore, if there is a problem during the
second or third step, your application will not be lost. However, if you do not submit payment for
exam applications, whether online or at the Dutchess County Department of Human Resources, the application will
not be processed and you will not be permitted entry to the exam.
Click the "Enter a New Application" link on the main menu. This will take you to the announcement list that
displays all of the announced exams and recruitments.
To view an announcement, click on the link below the title of the exam or recruitment. When finished viewing
the announcement, click the Back button in the browser to navigate back to the announcement
Once you have selected the exam or recruitment you wish to apply for, click the "Apply"
link for the corresponding announcement.
A page will be displayed showing the title and county number, as well as the exam type, state exam number,
and exam date (if applicable) for the item you selected. Review this information to ensure
you are applying for the correct exam or recruitment and read the other information
provided on the page.
When ready to begin the application, click one of the two buttons at the bottom of the page. The
"Begin Application" button will present you with a blank application to complete. If you
have previously submitted applications using this website, you may click the
"Copy Previously Entered Application" button in order to copy the information from
a past application.
If you select the "Copy Previously Entered Application" button, continue with the
following steps. If you clicked the "Begin Application" button, you may skip to step 7.
If you selected the "Copy Previously Entered Application" button, a page will be
displayed listing the applications you have previously submitted using this website. NOTE:
Applications submitted on paper to the Dutchess County Department of Human Resources will not be
displayed in this list.
To copy an application, click the "Copy" button to the right of the respective
The application wizard will begin. This wizard will guide you through the application process
and validate the application to ensure that all required information is entered.
Detailed instructions for using the wizard and specific instructions regarding the application
are provided on the first two pages of the application wizard.
Once the application is complete and you have clicked the "Finish" button, the
application will be saved and you will be presented with an affirmative action questionnaire.

If this is an exam application, an application fee is required. Following the affirmative
action questionnaire, you will be offered the opportunity to submit payment for the application
online. This is encouraged in order to expedite the processing of your application. If you
do not submit the exam fee online, you must submit the fee directly to the Dutchess County
Department of Human Resources. If the exam fee goes unpaid, the application will not be processed and
you will not be permitted entry to the exam.
Once the application has been submitted, you may return to the main menu.
