Distance learning is available at many of the educational institutions throughout the county including Dutchess BOCES and Dutchess Community College. Via technology such as the World Wide Web, video conferencing, and broadband telecommunication networks, instructors are able to teach and interact with their students even though they may be separated physically by a great distance. Distance learning has allowed students in all school districts to select from a wide array of course offerings; they are no longer limited by the size of a school district or staffing constraints.
In addition, through the SUNY Learning Network (SLN), the State University of New York's award-winning online education program, students can take individual SUNY classes or earn complete SUNY degrees online. Dutchess Community College also offers selected courses through SLN.
