YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER AND PRE-PAY

FREE MEDICATIONS DISPOSAL AT POUGHKEEPSIE EVENTS

Call (845) 463-6020 or visit www.DCRRA.org to register and schedule an appointment, then send a check for $5.00 payable to:

DCRRA must receive your $5.00 registration fee no later than the Wednesday prior to each Saturday's event.

No monies will be accepted at the collection site.

All events are from 7:30 A.M - 9:30 A.M.

Medications Drop Off - Poughkeepsie Location Only: 4/5, 5/3, 8/2 and 11/1, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., No Fee; Pre-Registration Required

  • Button cell batteries for watches & hearing aids
  • Chemical fertilizers
  • Creosote
  • Electronics:  computer monitors, CPU's,  printers, fax machines, TV's, stereos, telephones and cell phones
  • Flammable liquids
  • Fluorescent bulbs & tubes
  • Fungicides
  • Gasoline/oil mixture
  • Herbicides
  • Kerosene
  • Lithium & sealed lead acid batteries
  • Metal polish
  • Mercury containing devices
  • Non latex driveway sealer
  • Oil & lead based paints (no latex!)
  • Pesticides
  • Photo chemicals
  • Product Containers Marked: "Warning", "Hazardous", "Flammable", Poisonous", "Corrosive"
  • Pool chemicals
  • Resins
  • Solvents
  • Stains
  • Strippers
  • Thinners
  • Turpentine
  • Varnishes
 

PLEASE DO NOT BRING:

  • Ammunition or explosives
  • Asbestos products
  • Automotive Batteries, Motor Oil and Antifreeze  - Drop off at auto centers
  • Batteries: AAA, AA, C, D, 9 Volt and lantern batteries are regular household trash.
  • Building or construction debris
  • Furniture
  • Latex driveway sealer & latex paint(Add kitty litter or sawdust to dry out remaining paint, and then place the can in your regular trash)
  • Medical waste or medicines
  • Motor oil,  car batteries and antifreeze
  • Propane or other flammable gas cylinders
  • Radioactive materials
  • Rechargeable Nickel Cadmium Batteries - call 1-800 8Battery for most convenient local disposal location. 
  • Scrap metal, metal drums or empty containers
  • Tires

Collections will be on the following Saturdays at the following locations:  (see Solid Waste Management Calendar of Events for directions to event locations)

  • DCRRA in Poughkeepsie on April 5, May 3, August 2, and November 1.
Poughkeepsie events include Medications Drop-off, a free service to safely dispose of expired and unwanted medications.

  • Dutchess Intermodal Center adjacent to Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill on July 12 
  • Cornell Cooperative Extension in Millbrook on September 6
  • Rhinebeck at Town Highway Department, 119 Rhinecliff Road, on June 7 and October 4

 

Pre-registration and pre-payment for HHW events is mandatory.
