The 2007-2011 ACS 5-Year Estimates are the most updated 5-Year estimates available from the US Census Bureau. The data is available for all cities, towns, villages, census tracts and block groups. These are NOT 2010 Census results, but are based on continuous sample survey data collected between January 2007 and December 2011. The ACS does not count everyone but relies on a sample of the population to compile these estimates. With these 5-year estimates, people will no longer have to wait a decade for the next look at detailed characteristics data for their small areas.
A note about the data: As the ACS data is based on a sample of the population, there is an associated Margin of Error (MOE) that accompanies the data. It is important to report the MOE when quoting the data. In addition, these estimates cover a sample of the population from the years 2007-2011. When comparing data to quantify change, datasets should not overlap the same time period. For instance, the 2006-2010 5-Year Estimates should not be compared to the 2007-2011 5-Year Estimates as both datasets cover the years 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
