The Dutchess County Planning Federation supports the efforts of local volunteers involved in the community planning process throughout the County. The Federation, in partnership with the Dutchess County Department of Planning and Development, has presented educational workshops to local officials and residents for over 20 years. This cooperative effort also produces a monthly educational eNewsletter, Plan On It, that reaches over 1,100 email subscribers. The Federation is governed by a Board elected by members at the annual meeting.

Federation Goals
The Federation focuses on the following goals:

• To provide education and information to members and the public regarding regional, urban, rural, and local land use planning so that sound planning and zoning will lead to the orderly growth and development of our communities;
  
• To serve as a resource for information on the purposes and techniques of planning, zoning, and land use control;
  
• To provide a forum for the exchange of experiences in the handling of common land use planning problems often found in our communities;
  
• To serve as a county voice for the planning and zoning boards of Dutchess County.
