OCIS oversees automation for Dutchess County Government. Our primary mission is to use computer technologies to provide services to some 37 departments in support of their efforts. We also work with local municipalities on countywide applications including Real Property Taxes and “IMAGIS”, our new GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Mapping system. Our recent, and perhaps most important, role is to head up the County’s e-Government development effort, which will provide Internet-based services to the public, businesses and other government agencies.

Over  time e-Government will change  the way that the County does business. The County’s goal for these services is to make residents and County Government more efficient and effective. This will be accomplished by using the Internet to provide 24-hour access to on-line information and services; well after County offices are closed.

Our work is accomplished through the teamwork of our different divisions. These include: Computer Operations, Development Staff, GIS Group, Microcomputer/Network Staff, Systems Group, Administrative Staff and our Management Team.
