Mission Statement horizontal line

OCIS Mission Statement graphicOCIS oversees automation for Dutchess County Government. Our primary mission is to use computer technologies to provide services to some 37 departments in support of their efforts. We also work with local municipalities on countywide applications including Real Property Taxes and “IMAGIS”, our new GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Mapping system. Our recent, and perhaps most important, role is to head up the County’s e-Government development effort, which will provide Internet-based services to the public, businesses and other government agencies.

Over  time e-Government will change  the way that the County does business. The County’s goal for these services is to make residents and County Government more efficient and effective. This will be accomplished by using the Internet to provide 24-hour access to on-line information and services; well after County offices are closed.

Our work is accomplished through the teamwork of our different divisions. These include: Computer Operations, Development Staff, GIS Group, Microcomputer/Network Staff, Systems Group, Administrative Staff and our Management Team.

Take a few minutes to review the rest of the OCIS web page for details about the services we provide, the roles that our different teams play, and most importantly how your tax dollars are put to work.

Commissioner's Message

These are both challenging and exciting times for OCIS as we expand our services to the County and its citizens. For almost 40 years OCIS has worked with County departments to automate their functions and to support their efforts to serve the public. A change is now underway as we focus on designing Internet applications that will be used directly by County residents, local businesses, municipalities and visitors to our area. This is just a start to the County’s move to e-Government Internet services; we’re excited about new initiatives that lie ahead.

Timothy E. Mahler, Commissioner
