Mission Statement 

The Dutchess County Human Rights Commission was established in 1984 to serve the residents of Dutchess County.  Its primary objectives are:

  1. To foster a community climate in which better understanding and relationships among various racial, religious and ethnic groups can easily and naturally take place.

  2. To recommend and conduct educational programs and training to foster mutual respect and increase goodwill and understanding among residents of Dutchess County.

  3. To inquire into incidents of tension and conflicts among or between various racial, religious and nationality groups, and act to relieve this tension.

  4. To receive complaints of alleged discrimination, attempt a just solution and to seek assistance of the New York State Division of Human Rights in the solution of complaints that fall within its jurisdiction.
