Shingles: What You Should Know

In October 2006, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended a new Shingles vaccine for adults 60 years and older. This is the first vaccine recommended for use only in adults, and it will prevent much of the pain and suffering caused by Shingles.

The Dutchess County Department of Health offers the Zostavax® vaccine, licensed by Merck &Co., Inc. for the prevention of shingles at its Adult Immunization and Screening Clinics.

You may have a medical condition or be taking medication that may limit your ability to receive this vaccine. Please access the following website to learn more about Zostavax vaccine and to discuss with your doctor whether it is appropriate for you:
