Quiet Cove Riverfront Park is an exciting addition to the park offerings for Dutchess County. Totaling 27 acres, with 5 plus acres to the West of the rail line, this former portion of the Hudson River Psychiatric Center property was retained by the state at the county’s encouragement for the creation of a riverside park. As part of a cooperative partnership agreement with New York State, the County agreed to make improvements to the property and operate it as a riverfront park, while the State maintains ownership of the land.
The County has recently completed renovations to the park including a new roof and front porch deck overlooking the Hudson River on the Navy Crew house. Handicapped accessible restrooms and ramps were also added to the Navy Crew house. Other improvements to Quiet Cove included a new well to supply water to the site, sewer lines, electrical upgrades and a boat launch area for canoes and kayaks.
The park also offers picnic tables, grills, fishing, walking trails and scenic overlooks on the upper section of the park and breathtaking views of the Hudson River. This park location does not have any rental facilities available.
