Construction Phasing
The Dutchess Rail Trail has been designed and constructed in stages. The objective of the design and construction phasing is to develop sections that provide each of the four Towns and the City of Poughkeepsie with access to a section of the Dutchess Rail Trail with parking as soon as construction is completed.
The first three stages of the Dutchess Rail Trail have been completed and are open for use.
The remaining stage is Construction Stage 4 (see the pink highlighted area of the map)
~ Stage 4 will one of the most complex construction aspects of the DRT– the construction of a new 900 ft, 5 span bridge that will extend over NYS Route 55’s six lanes of traffic, and the Wappinger Creek. This construction stage will also complete the final section between Old Manchester Road and Overocker Road. Design work is underway and construction is expected to begin in 2012.
