Hyde Park… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus recognized today local senior, Joan S. Miller, a finalist in a national photo contest. Representing the Hyde Park Senior Friendship Center, Ms. Miller was a finalist in a national photo contest sponsored by the U.S. Administration on Aging in conjunction with May’s Older American’s Month Theme: “Aging Well, Living Well.” The contest was open to all non-professional photographers, age 60 and older. The purpose of the contest was to enhance the image of older Americans to all generations through pictures.
“Ms. Miller’s photo looks anything but non-professional! It’s exciting that the beauty of our area, so nicely depicted in Ms. Miller’s entry, has gained national recognition,” said County Executive Steinhaus.
Ms. Miller’s entry, a black and white photo of an elderly couple walking hand and hand at Hyde Park’s Vanderbilt Mansion was one of nine “honorable mentions” awarded in the contest.
