When a child abduction situation meets specific criteria, an AMBER (America's Missing:Broadcast Emergency Response) Alert is issued. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children serves as a clearinghouse for the AMBER Alert program and posts information about active AMBER Alerts on their website.

This all-inclusive New York State government portal provides links to a variety of state, federal, and other websites that give information about specific emergencies and disasters, how to prepare, how to respond, and disaster assistance resources.

With the information provided on their Emergency Preparedness & Response web site, the CDC helps citizens to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration website lists safety alerts and recalls of food and other products within the past 60 days based on the magnitude of distribution and the level of health risk.

This New York State website provides traffic, travel, and transit information with links to emergency alerts.



~ National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

The New York State All-Hazards Alert and Notification web-based portal, maintained by the New York State Emergency Management Office, posts information such as severe weather warnings, significant highway closures, hazardous materials spills, and  other emergency conditions as well as instructions and protective actions.  This same information will be sent to subscribers of this free service (NYSDOT-TransAlert) through e-mails, text messages to cell phones, and other media outlets.

TransAlerts are e-mail or text messages sent to subscribers by the New York State Department of Transportation using the New York State Emergency Management Office's NY-Alert system informing them of significant highway-related incidents occurring on New York State's interstates, parkways and other major highways.  Updates are sent as necessary until the incident has been cleared.

Get international travel information including current warnings and alerts.   It is advised that residents who will be traveling register their travel plans through a free online service at https://travelregistration.state.gov so that the Department of State can better assist them in an emergency.
